The study aims to develop a preliminary study of intervention in open spaces and built environment in the Escola Estadual Hegésippo Reis, in Nova Descoberta, Natal, RN, through the participatory process and an interactionist approach, where the main users (children, teachers, employees and managers) are integrated to the process of space’s transformation, and the architecture’s student acted as a mediator technical process. Participatory and inclusive methods of social interaction were used in order to enhance the ability of perception and spatial creativity of users, and the way to promote their autonomy and social empowerment. More than target concrete results, the final project values the process of reflection on the meaning of producing a more consistent architectural design with the values and needs of a group, developing environmental education through the exchange of experiences.
