Resumo: This article presents reflections about the social constructions regarding gender and how this culture perpetuates itself in dance teaching. It has the objective of discussing and reflecting about gender issues in the school context with a focus on dance teaching, at Elementary School. Before this the work is divided in two parts, the first one presents theoretical basis on themes about gender and dance in the context of education, the second one shares experiences developed in school environment by the author, during the experience in projects like Programa Institucional de Bolsa de Iniciação a Docência (PIBID) and Mais Educação and emphasizes the importance of discussions on social relations with a focus on gender issues, in the context of the curricular component of Art and specifically in dance classes.
