Resumo: | This monograph has the main objective to do a comparative evaluation based on strategic, logistics and economics criteria of two alternatives of wind turbine towers that dominate the wind Brazilian market: steel tubular towers and pretensioned pre-cast concrete tower. This study analyses the construction of wind turbines towers in the city of Serra do Mel, Rio Grande do Norte, and it has as the focus the world trend of tall towers development. The commercial exploration of wind power is relatively recent on the world. The first wind turbine to initiate a commercial operation was in Denmark, in 1976. Brazil has started the expressive development on the wind market recently, in 2004, with PROINFA. The country has a large wind potential and the state of Rio Grande do Norte has expressive participation on this scenario. About the methodology, it was applied a literature research to a data survey about the tower alternatives and choice of which would be studied at this research, besides highlight the main criteria to be evaluated. The established criteria were divided on strategic criterial and economical criterial. The strategical criterial that will be highlighted are logistics, the supply of raw material and structural performance of the element. The economic points analyzed were the costs during the equipment lifetime, the acquisition cost and the demobilization cost. The economics comparative evaluations were done, regarding the steel towers, using a real price quote of the market, and, for the concrete towers, were done quantitative estimative to the costs estimative could be done. The results were that the concrete towers has advantage in the strategical criterial and costs and it is the best solution for tall towers. However, the demobilization difficulties of those towers can bring environmental and economic losses that can turn the project unfeasible. |

O estudo analisa especificamente a implantação das torres no município de Serra do Mel, Rio Grande do Norte, e tem como foco a consideração da tendência mundial de desenvolvimento de torres altas. A exploração comercial da energia eólica é relativamente recente no mundo. O primeiro aerogerador a iniciar uma operação comercial foi na Dinamarca, em 1976. O Brasil começou o desenvolvimento expressivo do mercado eólico há menos tempo, a partir de 2004, com a criação do PROINFA. O país possui um grande potencial eólico e o Rio Grande do Norte tem expressiva participação neste cenário. Quanto à metodologia, foi realizada uma pesquisa bibliográfica para levantamento das alternativas de torres e a escolha das que seriam estudadas neste trabalho, além de se destacar os principais critérios a serem avaliados. Os critérios estabelecidos foram divididos em estratégicos e econômicos. Os critérios estratégicos que serão destacados são os aspectos logísticos, o fornecimento da matéria prima e o desempenho estrutural do elemento. Os critérios econômicos analisados foram os custos durante a vida útil da torre de aerogerador, ou seja, o custo de aquisição, o custo de manutenção e o custo de desmobilização. As avaliações comparativas econômicas foram feitas, no caso das torres metálicas, com base em cotações reais de mercado, e para as torres de concreto, foram realizadas estimativas de quantitativos, para que seja estimado os custos a serem analisados. Os resultados obtidos foram que as torres de concreto possuem vantagens em termos de custos e é a melhor alternativa para torres altas, se comparada com a de aço.
