Introduction: The climacteric, characterized by the gradual decrease in the production of sex hormones by the ovaries, leads to a hormonal deficiency in the organism, responsible for a series of symptoms, capable of negatively impact on different aspects of women's lives, including their functional capacity. Objective: To evaluate the influence of climacteric symptoms on functionality in middle-aged women. Methodology: The study was characterized by being an observational, descriptive, cross-sectional type. Women using the Unified Health System in the municipalities of Natal and Parnamirim-RN, aged between 40 and 65 years, were evaluated. An evaluation form containing identification and sociodemographic data, gynecological / obstetric history, as well as climacteric data, associated diseases and life habits were applied. The Menopause Rating Scale (MRS) was used to assess the climacteric symptomatology. For the evaluation of the functionality, the Short Physical Performance Battery (SPPB) was used. Data analysis was performed by the statistical program Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS). Quantitative data were presented as medium and standard deviation and categorical data were presented as absolute and relative frequencies. Pearson's correlation test was used to measure the degree of correlation between the variables. A significance level or p value of 0.01 was adopted. Results: 33 women participated in the study, with a medium age of 45.9 (± 6.37) years. There was a negative and strong correlation between the physical performance and the climacteric symptomatology (r = -0.79, p <0.0001). Conclusion: Women who presented greater intensity of climacteric symptoms had worse scores in the physical performance test.
