Resumo: | The Transport Phenomena are an important area of study of chemical engineering, with three main topics: fluid dynamics, heat transfer and mass transfer. Apply the knowledge learned in lectures in laboratory practices is critical to student learning. In this paper it was implemented a practice of Transport Phenomena using a pitot tube. The Pitot is a simple tool and easy to understand employee for measuring flow in speed. From the speed measurement performed by a Pitot tube, it is possible to infer the flow of a fluid, which is one of the main process variables in Chemical Engineering. In this unit built, an air blower was connected to a pipe containing a Pitot tube installed. The outlets of differential pressure of Pitot were connected to a pressure gauge "U" with liquid water column and an electronic pressure sensor. Also, it was implemented an automated system to record the data from the pressure sensor and to modulate the rotation of the air blower which is connect to a frequency inverter. The automatic system was communicated through a program developed with computer interface that allows users to perform experimental practice working remotely. The system was tested in different conditions of air velocity and applying Bernoulli's equation, it was possible to find a significant correlation between the speed inferred by differential pressure measurements with the speed values obtained through a portable anemometer. |

Aplicar os conhecimentos aprendidos nas aulas teóricas em práticas laboratoriais é de suma importância para a aprendizagem dos alunos. Nesse trabalho foi implementada uma prática de Fenômenos de Transporte utilizando um Tubo de Pitot. O Pitot é um instrumento bem simples e de fácil entendimento empregado para a medição de velocidade em escoamento. A partir da medição de velocidade realizada por um tubo de Pitot, é possível inferir a vazão de escoamento de um fluido, sendo esta uma das principais variáveis de processo na Engenharia Química. Na unidade prática construída, um soprador de ar foi conectado a uma tubulação contendo um tubo de Pitot instalado. As tomadas de pressão diferencial do Pitot foram conectadas a um manômetro em “U” com coluna líquida de água e a um sensor de pressão eletrônico. Também, foi implementado um sistema automático para registrar os dados do sensor de pressão e para modular a rotação do soprador de ar a partir de um inversor de frequência. O sistema automático foi comunicado através de um programa desenvolvido com interface computacional que permite os usuários realizar a prática experimental atuando em modo remoto.
