Resumo: The current scenario of oil production and mainly natural gas in the state of Rio Grande do Norte is down. The Potiguar sedimentary basin, which has produced oil and gas since 1976, already works with recovery methods such as gas, water and steam injection. A recovery in current production would require new investments in the area and also a research for new wells, which is impracticable at the moment due to the low price of the barrel of oil. The objective of this study is to recover the natural gas from the separating vessel that receives the production of oil from the Ubarana maritime field, which was discarded by burning through a torch. This recovery took place by the installation of a compression unit next to the said vessel, to suction the gas and to send it for treatment and processing. Once the technical and economical viability has been verified, the compressor installation followed and the gas that was previously discarded joins other streams and goes to treatment and processing, generating a small increase in the state's gas production.

A bacia sedimentar potiguar, que produz petróleo e gás desde 1976, já trabalha com métodos de recuperação como injeção de gás, água e vapor. Para que haja um aumento na produção atual, seriam necessários novos investimentos na área de recuperação e também pesquisa por novos poços, o que é inviável no presente momento devido ao baixo preço do barril de petróleo. Diante deste quadro, o presente trabalho teve como objetivo avaliar a probabilidade de recuperação do gás natural do vaso separador que recebe a produção de óleo do campo marítimo de Ubarana, e que era descartado por queima através de tocha. Tal recuperação se deu pela instalação de uma unidade de compressão ao lado do referido vaso, para succionar o gás e enviá-lo para tratamento e processamento.
