Resumo: Cockatiels are classified as domestic animals, in the order Psittaciformes, family Cacatuidae and species Nymphicus hollandicus, which can be sold and purchased as pets. Its occurrence in veterinary hospital routine has increased over the years due to the continuous growth of the market for unconventional pets and amateur breeding of exotic birds. An individual of the species Nymphicus hollandicus, undetermined sex, 83 grams and unknown age, was received by the Veterinary Hospital, presenting an exposed fracture of the radius and ulna in the left thoracic limb, victim of predation by a domestic cat. After carrying out a clinical examination and determining the need for surgical intervention, the animal was hospitalized for stabilization and initiation of antibiotic therapy, application of analgesics and fluids. The amputation was performed at the level of the humeroradiulnar joint, after antisepsis and removal of marginal feathers from the wound. The postoperative period was carried out by the tutor, following medical recommendations. Accidents between birds and domestic cats are common given the characteristic of predatory behavior in feline species. Therefore, guardians must be careful and responsible when introducing these species, as well as preventing accidents.
