Resumo: | Squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) located in the cornea of dogs is a pathology considered rare. It can be characterized by a white to pinkish, elevated and multilobulated mass, which can cause metastasis in regional and pulmonary lymph nodes. The present work aims to report a case of a dog diagnosed with bilateral squamous cell carcinoma of the cornea. A male pug dog, 10 years old, was evaluated with lesions on the cornea with a clinical evolution of three months. After the ophthalmological examination, it was decided to perform surgical removal through lamellar keratectomy without a graft. The material removed was sent for histological study, which confirmed the suspected diagnosis of squamous cell carcinoma. The animal was monitored for up to six months after the surgery and did not request a return for the pathology. This work contributes to the scarce literature of reports of corneal squamous cell carcinoma in canines. |
