Resumo: | In February 1999, Hugo Chávez took over the Venezuelan presidency. At that time, few people imagined that the military man, leader of a frustrated coup d’état attempt on February 4, 1992, would become one of the main characters in Latin American history. Constantly remembered by politicians and social activists from various political spectra in the region for better or worse, his specter still haunts our political imagination, even ten years after his death, which occurred on March 5, 2013. Either for being praised or criticized, his 14 years of government have not been forgotten. Therefore, in this article we will discuss the history and historiography of the Bolivarian revolution aiming to evaluate the directions taken within this important Latin American historical process. |
