Resumo: This study aimed to determine the temporal variation of the community of metazoan parasites of red porgy, Pagrus pagrus (Perciformes: Sparidae) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and analyze the stability of the composition and structure of the community of metazoan parasites of P. pagrus compared with data from a previous study with these hosts in the same locality. In addition, we propose a new species of the nematode of genus Cucullanus (Ascaridida: Seuratoidea). A sample of 240 specimens of Pagrus pagrus were necropsied between January and December 2012, and divided into four groups with 60 specimens each per season (summer, autumn, winter and spring). In addition, the same samples were analyzed into dry (autumn and winter) and rainy (spring and summer) seasons, in groups of 120 specimens to verify the possible seasonal variability between samples. The analysis of temporal stability were made with the data collected from 100 specimens collected between January and February 2012, and data from 90 specimens of P. pagrus examined in a study conducted in 2000, in the same locality of the current study. Fish were collected in the coastal zone of the municipality of Cabo Frio (21-23 ? S, 41-45 ? W), in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The sum of the data from the two studies (this study and study of 2000), a total of 25 species of parasites were recorded. With the data obtained in the current study can be stated that the communities of metazoan parasites of P. pagrus showed a temporal stability and a seasonal variability in their structure and composition.

Adicionalmente, est? sendo proposta uma nova esp?cie de esp?cie de nematoide do g?nero Cucullanus (Ascaridida: Seuratoidea). Uma amostra de 240 exemplares de Pagrus pagrus foram necropsiados entre Janeiro e Dezembro de 2012 e dividida em 4 grupos de 60 exemplares por esta??o (ver?o, outono, inverno e primavera). Posteriormente as mesmas amostras foram divididas em per?odo seco (Outono e Inverno) e per?odo chuvoso (Primavera e Ver?o) em grupos de 120 esp?cimes para verificar a poss?vel variabilidade sazonal entre as amostras. As an?lises de estabilidade temporal foram feita com dados coletados de 100 esp?cimes coletados entre Janeiro e Fevereiro de 2012, e dados de 90 esp?cimes de P. pagrus examinados em um estudo realizado no ano 2000, na mesma localidade do presente estudo. Os peixes foram coletados na regi?o da costa do munic?pio de Cabo Frio (21-23? S, 41-45? W), no estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Na soma dos dados dos dois estudos (presente estudo e estudo de 2000) foram registrados um total de 25 esp?cies de parasitos. description This study aimed to determine the temporal variation of the community of metazoan parasites of red porgy, Pagrus pagrus (Perciformes: Sparidae) off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; and analyze the stability of the composition and structure of the community of metazoan parasites of P. pagrus compared with data from a previous study with these hosts in the same locality. In addition, we propose a new species of the nematode of genus Cucullanus (Ascaridida: Seuratoidea). A sample of 240 specimens of Pagrus pagrus were necropsied between January and December 2012, and divided into four groups with 60 specimens each per season (summer, autumn, winter and spring). In addition, the same samples were analyzed into dry (autumn and winter) and rainy (spring and summer) seasons, in groups of 120 specimens to verify the possible seasonal variability between samples. The analysis of temporal stability were made with the data collected from 100 specimens collected between January and February 2012, and data from 90 specimens of P. pagrus examined in a study conducted in 2000, in the same locality of the current study. Fish were collected in the coastal zone of the municipality of Cabo Frio (21-23 ? S, 41-45 ? W), in the state of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The sum of the data from the two studies (this study and study of 2000), a total of 25 species of parasites were recorded. With the data obtained in the current study can be stated that the communities of metazoan parasites of P. pagrus showed a temporal stability and a seasonal variability in their structure and composition.
