Resumo: Three compounds were isolated from the ethanolic extract of the trunk wood of Sapotacea n? 250 -(INPA). Two Steroids: sitosterol and 3-0-B-glycosilspinasterol. The structure of the other compound was not determined because of the small amount isolated. The benzenic extract of Tovomita brasiliensis, Guttiferae, gave seven compounds. Two dihydroisocumarins: 8-hydroxy-3,5-dimetyl -3,4-dihydroisocumarin (Tb-6) and 8-hydroxy-5-metoxy-3-metil--3,4-dihydroisocumarin (Tb-1); one isocumarin: 7-cloro-8-hidroxy--6-metoxy-3-metilisocumarin (Tb-5); one xanthone: 1,5-dihydroxy--6,7-dimetoxixanthone (Tb-3); one triterpene: betulinic acid (Tb-4); one steroid: sitosterol (Tb-2) and one glycoside. The structures of their glycoside was not elucidated. A review of the 13CNMR was described and used for the structural determination of 1,5-dihydroxy-6,7-dimetoxyxanthone. The extracts were fractionated by chromtography. The structures were elucidated on the basis of spectral data and chemical transformations. A biosynthetic study of xanthones was useful in onder to suggest a biosynthetic path for the isolated xanthone from Tovomita brasiliensis.

Uma revis?o sobre r.m.n.13C, serviu de apoio para o estabelecimento da estrutura da xantona. M?todos cromatogr?ficos foram utilizados no trabalho de isolamento das subst?ncias. As estruturas foram elucidadas com base na interpreta??o de dados espectrais das subst?ncias e de seus derivados, obtidos por acetila??o, metila??o e hidr?lise.
