Resumo: A família Cucullanidae Cobbold, 1864, (Nematoda) é composta por um grande número de parasitas intestinais que parasitam peixes de água doce, salobre e marinha, além disso, também são encontrados algumas vezes em tartarugas marinhas. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo registrar e caracterizar morfologicamente duas espécies de parasitos do gênero Cucullanus Müller, 1777 (Nematoda: Cucullanidae) em duas espécies de peixes pertencentes a família Gerreidae Bleeker, 1859 (Perciformes) do litoral de Angra dos Reis, Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Contribuindo assim, com dois novos registros de hospedeiros para o gênero Cucullanus, onde pela primeira vez é registrado Cucullanus bourdini Petter e Le Bel, 1992 no Oceano Atlântico em Eugerres brasilianus Cuvier, 1830. Também foi registrado Cucullanus sp. encontrado em Diapterus auratus Ranzani, 1842 como uma potencial espécie nova devido a sua não similaridade ao ser comparado aos Cucullanus da região neotropical aqui citados. A espécie Cucullanus bourdini apresentou variação morfométrica sendo menor dos que os já registrados no Oceano Pacífico. Cucullanus sp. se difere dos demais Cucullanus neotropicais principalmente pelo número e arranjo de papilas caudais. Até o momento, não houve estudo que envolvesse nematoides Cucullanus nas presentes espécies de peixes na América do Sul

This study goal to report and to characterize the morphology of two species of parasites of the genus Cucullanus Müller, 1777 (Nematoda: Cucullanidae) on two species of fish of the family Gerreidae Bleeker, 1859 (Perciformes) off the coast of Angra dos Reis, State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Thus contributing with two new host reports for the genus Cucullanus, where for the first time Cucullanus bourdini Petter and Le Bel, 1992 is reported in the Atlantic Ocean in Eugerres brasilianus Cuvier, 1830. Cucullanus sp. found in Diapterus auratus Ranzani, 1842 as potential new species due to its non-similarity when compared to the Cucullanus from the Neotropical Region cited here. The specie Cucullanus bourdini show morphometric variation, It is smaller than those reported in the Pacific Ocean. Cucullanus sp. differs from the other neotropical Cucullanus mainly by the number and arrangement of caudal papillae. description A família Cucullanidae Cobbold, 1864, (Nematoda) é composta por um grande número de parasitas intestinais que parasitam peixes de água doce, salobre e marinha, além disso, também são encontrados algumas vezes em tartarugas marinhas. O presente trabalho teve como objetivo registrar e caracterizar morfologicamente duas espécies de parasitos do gênero Cucullanus Müller, 1777 (Nematoda: Cucullanidae) em duas espécies de peixes pertencentes a família Gerreidae Bleeker, 1859 (Perciformes) do litoral de Angra dos Reis, Estado do Rio de Janeiro, Brasil. Contribuindo assim, com dois novos registros de hospedeiros para o gênero Cucullanus, onde pela primeira vez é registrado Cucullanus bourdini Petter e Le Bel, 1992 no Oceano Atlântico em Eugerres brasilianus Cuvier, 1830. Também foi registrado Cucullanus sp. encontrado em Diapterus auratus Ranzani, 1842 como uma potencial espécie nova devido a sua não similaridade ao ser comparado aos Cucullanus da região neotropical aqui citados. A espécie Cucullanus bourdini apresentou variação morfométrica sendo menor dos que os já registrados no Oceano Pacífico. Cucullanus sp. se difere dos demais Cucullanus neotropicais principalmente pelo número e arranjo de papilas caudais. Até o momento, não houve estudo que envolvesse nematoides Cucullanus nas presentes espécies de peixes na América do Sul
