Resumo: This work was carried out in two chapters, the first experiment started in May of 2010 during 42 days and the aim of this work was to evaluate the weight and length in juvenile freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare). The fish were tested to three commercial diets for Cichlids varying the crude protein level (38%, 43% and 44.5%) three treatments and five replicates. The second experiment started in December of 2010 during 35 days and the objective of this study was to evaluate the weight and length of juvenile of freshwater angelfish fed on two different Cladocerans (Moina micrura and Daphnia pulex) in relation to one commercial diet for cichlids, three treatments and six replicates. Fish density in the first experiment was 10 individuals per each 30 L plastic boxes and in the second experiment 8 fishes in each 40.5L aquarium. Once a week five juveniles was selected randomly of each experimental unit to evaluate the weight and length measures in both of the experiments. In the first experiment, the highest protein level diet (44.5%) provided better growth and weight performance for the juveniles which was observed in the second experiment for the groups of fish fed on cladocerans (Daphnia and Moina) compared to low protein level inert diet. Moina micrura with smaller protein level compared to Daphnia pulex showed higher weight gain of the juveniles. Thereby it was concluded that length and weight performance of the juveniles of Pterophyllum scalare were influenced by the highest crude protein levels of the diet comparing both researches and further trials about digestibility and protein biological value of these two cladocerans are necessary.

O segundo experimento teve inicio em dezembro de 2010 com dura??o de 35 dias, o objetivo foi avaliar o desempenho de peso e comprimento de juvenis de acar?bandeira alimentados com dois diferentes Clad?ceros (Moina micrura e Daphnia pulex) em rela??o a uma dieta comercial para Cichlidae, tr?s tratamentos e seis repeti??es. Os peixes do primeiro experimento foram estocados numa densidade de 10 peixes/caixa pl?stica de 30L e no segundo experimento a densidade foi de 8 peixes/aqu?rio de 40,5L. Semanalmente, em ambos experimentos foram retirados aleatoriamente 5 peixes de cada unidade experimental, para a tomada dos dados biom?tricos, peso e comprimento dos juvenis. No primeiro experimento, a ra??o com maior n?vel de prote?na bruta (44,5%) apresentou melhor desempenho em rela??o ao peso e comprimento dos juvenis. Isto foi observado tamb?m no segundo ensaio, onde os juvenis alimentados com os Clad?ceros com maior n?vel de prote?na demonstraram melhor desempenho em rela??o ? dieta comercial. E entre os dois Clad?ceros, a Moina micrura de menor n?vel prot?ico em rela??o ? Daphnia pulex, apresentou maior ganho de peso dos juvenis. description This work was carried out in two chapters, the first experiment started in May of 2010 during 42 days and the aim of this work was to evaluate the weight and length in juvenile freshwater angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare). The fish were tested to three commercial diets for Cichlids varying the crude protein level (38%, 43% and 44.5%) three treatments and five replicates. The second experiment started in December of 2010 during 35 days and the objective of this study was to evaluate the weight and length of juvenile of freshwater angelfish fed on two different Cladocerans (Moina micrura and Daphnia pulex) in relation to one commercial diet for cichlids, three treatments and six replicates. Fish density in the first experiment was 10 individuals per each 30 L plastic boxes and in the second experiment 8 fishes in each 40.5L aquarium. Once a week five juveniles was selected randomly of each experimental unit to evaluate the weight and length measures in both of the experiments. In the first experiment, the highest protein level diet (44.5%) provided better growth and weight performance for the juveniles which was observed in the second experiment for the groups of fish fed on cladocerans (Daphnia and Moina) compared to low protein level inert diet. Moina micrura with smaller protein level compared to Daphnia pulex showed higher weight gain of the juveniles. Thereby it was concluded that length and weight performance of the juveniles of Pterophyllum scalare were influenced by the highest crude protein levels of the diet comparing both researches and further trials about digestibility and protein biological value of these two cladocerans are necessary.
