Resumo: The aim of the present work was to evaluate the taxonomy of four nematode speices parasitic in five species of marine fishes, and other three nematode species parasitizing four species of freshwater fishes from Brazil. Field collections were carried out from February 2011 to December 2013, fishes collected were as follows: Bagre bagre (Siluriformes: Ariidae), Balistes capriscus and Balistes vetula (Tetraodontiformes: Balistidae), Holocentrus adscensionis (Beryciformes: Holocentridae) and Kyphosus sectatrix (Perciformes: Kyphosidae) off Rio de Janeiro; Megalodoras uranoscopus and Platydoras costatus (Siluriformes: Doradidae) from Xingu River, State of Par?, Platydoras armatulus and Piaractus mesopotamicus (Characiformes: Serrasalmidae) from Miranda River, State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Fishes were caught fresh by commercial trawlers and immediately analyzed for parasites. Nematodes found were evaluated using light and scanning electron microscopy, some specimens were genetically analyzed. The new species Raphidascaroides sp. (Anisakidae) a parasite of P. armatulus differs from its congeners by the structure of lips, short spicules, presence of small spines in the anterior region of cloacal opening, males with caudal swellings and by the number and arrangement of caudal papillae. The known species R. brasiliensis found in M. uranoscopus and P. costatus was analyzed based on newly-collected and material and type specimens; after analysis some additional data on the morphology of this species were observed, e.g., pore-like structure on female tale and variability in the number and arrangement of caudal papillae in males. Sequences of the 18S and 28S genes of the rDNA for both Raphidascaroides spp. were provided. Cucullanus sp. (Cucullanidae) partasite of B. capriscus e B. vetula differs from the congeners mainly by the small body size, short tail of male and female with peculiar morphology and by the number and arrangement of caudal papillae. Cucullanus bagre parasitic in B. bagre was redescribed based on newly collected material and analysis of type specimens, which has revealed the presence of a unpaired papillae anterior to cloacal lip in males; additionally description of the adult female and the cuticular plates of oesophastome are provided for the first time. Two species of cystidicolid nematodes (Cystidicolidae), Comephoronema sp. and Pseudascarophis sp. parasites of H. adscensionis and K. sectatrix, respectively, differ from the congeners based on the egg morphology and the number and arrangement of caudal papillae in males. Spectatus spectatus (Kathlaniidae) parasite of P. mesopotamicus was redescribed based on analysis of newly collected material and type specimens; the genus was emended and the 18S was sequenced.

Submitted by Jorge Silva (jorgelmsilva@ufrrj.br) on 2019-09-03T18:08:29Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2015 - Felipe Bisaggio Pereira.pdf: 42968091 bytes, checksum: d4b4802d7fe35762e7dae9676f157623 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2019-09-03T18:08:29Z (GMT).
