Resumo: Historically, the S?o Francisco river was a major source of fish. Among the fish found in the upper S?o Francisco river, Salminus hilarii, popularly known as golden-white is a Bryconidae family and widely distributed in South America, which has high commercial value, is of interest for fish farming and can be used as a good environmental indicator due to their high degree of selectivity of the environment and for being a carnivore top of the food chain. With the growing habit of the population consuming raw or poorly cooked fish, the fish parasitology has diagnostic role order to reduce the problems caused by parasites to fish, to consumers and also to fish farming. This study aimed to identify the parasites groups that make up the fauna of S. hilarii endoparasite from specimens collected in the reservoir of Tr?s Marias (18?12'51'' S 45?15'51'' W), MG, in July 2007, and to correlate the parasitic parameters with data host and highlight the possible relationship between parasitism and feeding habits of the fish. All found parasite specimens were preserved in alcohol 70? GL. The species parasitic fauna of S. hilarii, from this study, were: larvae of Eucestoda (Plerocercoids of Proteocephalidae); one metacercaria of Trematoda (Austrodiplostomum sp.); nine species of Nematoda (larvae of Contracaecum sp., larvae and juveniles of Goezia sp., larvae Hysterothylacium sp., larvae, juveniles and adults of Procamallanus (Spirocamallanus) inopinatus, juveniles of P. (S.) saofrancicencis, larvae of Cystidicoloides fischeri, adults of Spinitectus rodolphiheringi, larvae of Spiroxys sp., adults of Rhabdochona acuminata); one juvenile of Acanthocephala (Quadrigyrus sp.) and an adult specimen of Branchiura (Argulus elongatus). The sex of the hosts influenced the prevalence of plerocercoids and Goezia sp., being higher in male and female hosts, respectively. In addition, there was a influence on the intensities of Contracaecum sp. and Hysterothylacium sp., in the latter also abundance, in which all indexes were statistically higher in females. The other species did not have their parasites indexes influenced by the sex of the fish. The total length of the hosts influenced significantly the parasitic indexes, being the bigger fish more parasitized, except: prevalence of Contracaecum sp. and Hysterothylacium sp.; intensity of C. fischeri; and all the indexes of P. (S.) inopinatus. The presence of cestoid larvae, nematodes and the metacercariae in S. hilarii reveals importance as a paratenic and intermediate host in case of evolution of these parasites or predation of the host. Adult specimens emphasize their role as a definitive host due to their activities as predator in the reservoir, or in the case of Quadrigyrus sp. an accidental infection. The species: Plerocercoide of unidentified Proteocephalidae, Hysterothylacium sp., Spiroxys sp., Goezia sp., P. (S.) saofrancicencis, R. acuminata, S. rodolphiheringi, Austrodiplostomum sp. and Quadrigyrus sp. are recorded for the first time in S. hilarii, in this host of the Tr?s Marias reservoir is mentioned for the first time C. fischeri. Argulus elongatus expands the list of known hosts with S. hilarii and also the geographical distribution.

Submitted by Jorge Silva (jorgelmsilva@ufrrj.br) on 2021-08-25T21:56:14Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2018 - Rayane Duarte.pdf: 4227259 bytes, checksum: d09a33658b5ef5ecda5d5f353d22b53c (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2021-08-25T21:56:14Z (GMT). (S.) saofrancicencis, R. acuminata, S. rodolphiheringi, Austrodiplostomum sp. and Quadrigyrus sp. are recorded for the first time in S. hilarii, in this host of the Tr?s Marias reservoir is mentioned for the first time C. fischeri. Argulus elongatus expands the list of known hosts with S. hilarii and also the geographical distribution.
