Resumo: Organophosphorus compounds are well known chelating agents, among which can be found the N,N-dialkylcarbamylmethylenephosphonates (3) which work as powerful extracting agents for IA and IIA metal cations and also transition metais, through the phosphoryl and carbonyl groups. lt is believed that a modification in this structure, increasing the coordination sites, might improve the extracting properties of these compounds. Based on this idea seven novel bisphosphonates were prepared. AII of them were characterized by IR, 1H-NMR, 13C-NMR, 31P-NMR and mass spectroscopy. The preliminary study of potential chelation power of these compounds was performed in solution, by condutometric and spectrometric (Ultraviolet) titration. The analysis by ultraviolet spectroscopy did not produce conclusive data, because lhe absorptions were superimposed and approached 200 nm, where there is strong interference of air in the instrument. The condutometric analysis has pointed out the tendency of these possible ligands to form complexes with Ni++, Zn++, Cu++, Co++ and Mn++ cat1ons. Since organophosphorus compounds are known by their wide applicability as pesticides, tests on Artemia salina Leach were done in order to evaluate the toxicity of the bisphosphonates synthesized. Among them, only compound 29 showed a LDso within the range of the concentration studied, under the total of 5,25x10-4 M; the other compounds showed LO50 values higher than the approximated concentration of 8,0x104 M.

Acredita-se que uma modifica??o nesta estrutura de forma a aumentar os s?tios de coordena??o da mol?cula, possa acarretar em agentes quelantes mais poderosos. Com base nisto, foram preparados sete bisfosfonatos in?ditos, os quais foram caracterizados pelas espectrometrias de infravermelho, RMN-1H, RMN-13C, RMN-31P e massas. O estudo preliminar do potencial quelante destes compostos foi realizado em solu??o, atrav?s da titula??o espectrom?trica de ultravioleta e da titula??o condutom?trica. A an?lise por espectrometria de ultravioleta n?o forneceu dados conclusivos, uma vez que houve superposi??o das bandas de absor??o, al?m das mesmas ocorrerem pr?ximo a 200 nm, onde h? forte interfer?ncia de ar no instrumento. J? a an?lise condutom?trica possibilitou que se chegasse a tend?ncias de complexa??o, sendo verificada a poss?vel forma??o de complexos, com rela??o estequiom?trica igual a 1,0, com os c?tions Ni++, Zn++, Cu++, Co++ e Mn++. Considerando que os compostos organofosforados s?o tamb?m conhecidos por sua vasta aplica??o como pesticidas, foram realizados testes, com os bisfosfonatos sintetizados, a fim de se avaliar a atividade t?xica destes compostos frente a larvas de Artemia salina Leach.
