Resumo: The author studies in detail the internal and external morphology of Simulium incrustatum Lutz, 1910 and Simulium yarzabali Ramirez-Perez, 1980. Data pertaining to the significant distinctions encountered are provided, in order to clarify the synonymy between the two species. An analysis of female S. limbatum, a species close the others above, revealed striking morphological differences in the cibarium and external aspect of the scutum. A discussion is made about the question of locationtype of S. incrustatum, which restricts the location-type for this species, followed by the rules of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The autor considers S. yarzabali a valid species due to the differences which were found and confirmed.

description The author studies in detail the internal and external morphology of Simulium incrustatum Lutz, 1910 and Simulium yarzabali Ramirez-Perez, 1980. Data pertaining to the significant distinctions encountered are provided, in order to clarify the synonymy between the two species. An analysis of female S. limbatum, a species close the others above, revealed striking morphological differences in the cibarium and external aspect of the scutum. A discussion is made about the question of locationtype of S. incrustatum, which restricts the location-type for this species, followed by the rules of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature. The autor considers S. yarzabali a valid species due to the differences which were found and confirmed.
