Resumo: | The genus of Eucalyptus has approximately 670 species, and some of these individuals have very similar characteristics, which makes it difficult to accurately identify them. Sometimes, only an anatomical characterization is not enough to differentiate very similar species, therefore, the use of alternative techniques to identify wood is extremely important. Thus, the present work aimed to characterize the colorimetry, wood anatomy and phytochemical profile of 10 species of Eucalyptus spp., in order to specify the similarities and distinguish them. The wood samples from the Xiloteca of the Department of Forest Products ? FPDw of Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, were used for the colorimetric, anatomical and phytochemical characterization of the Eucalyptus species. According to the colorimetric parameters the species were grouped into three distinct groups: E. saligna and E. globulus; E. populifolia and E. acervula and E. viminalis, E. longifolia, E. robusta and E. goniocalyx. It was possible to differentiate all species within the three groups through anatomical characteristics, except E. longifolia, E. robusta and E. goniocalyx. The characteristics that contributed most to the species differentiation were: frequency and height of rays, vessel frequency and diameter, length of the perforation plates, length and wall thickness of the fibers. The species are different from each other according phytochemical analysis. Only E. longifolia and E. acervula showed no characteristic markers. |

O presente trabalho objetivou-se caracterizar a colorimetria, anatomia da madeira perfil fitoqu?mico de 10 esp?cies de Eucalyptus spp., com o intuito de especificar as similaridades e distingu?-las. As amostras de madeiras foram utilizadas para a caracteriza??o colorim?trica, anat?mica e fitoqu?mica das esp?cies de Eucalyptus. De acordo com os par?metros colorim?tricos foram obtidos atrav?s do sistema CIELAB, onde as esp?cies foram agrupadas em tr?s distintos grupos: E. saligna e E. globulus; E. populifolia e E. acervula e E. viminalis, E. longif?lia, E. robusta e E. goniocalyx. Foi poss?vel diferenciar todas esp?cies dentro dos tr?s grupos por meio das caracter?sticas anat?micas, exceto o E. longifolia, E. robusta e o E. goniocalyx. As caracter?sticas que mais contribu?ram para a diferencia??o das esp?cies foram frequ?ncia e altura de raios, frequ?ncia e di?metro de vasos, comprimento das placas de perfura??o, comprimento e espessura da parede das fibras. The genus of Eucalyptus has approximately 670 species, and some of these individuals have very similar characteristics, which makes it difficult to accurately identify them. Sometimes, only an anatomical characterization is not enough to differentiate very similar species, therefore, the use of alternative techniques to identify wood is extremely important. Thus, the present work aimed to characterize the colorimetry, wood anatomy and phytochemical profile of 10 species of Eucalyptus spp., in order to specify the similarities and distinguish them. The wood samples from the Xiloteca of the Department of Forest Products ? FPDw of Universidade Federal Rural do Rio de Janeiro, were used for the colorimetric, anatomical and phytochemical characterization of the Eucalyptus species. According to the colorimetric parameters the species were grouped into three distinct groups: E. saligna and E. globulus; E. populifolia and E. acervula and E. viminalis, E. longifolia, E. robusta and E. goniocalyx. It was possible to differentiate all species within the three groups through anatomical characteristics, except E. longifolia, E. robusta and E. goniocalyx. The characteristics that contributed most to the species differentiation were: frequency and height of rays, vessel frequency and diameter, length of the perforation plates, length and wall thickness of the fibers. The species are different from each other according phytochemical analysis. Only E. longifolia and E. acervula showed no characteristic markers. |
