Resumo: This work aimed to evaluate the performance, quality of eggs and intestinal morphology of Japanese quail fed diets containing five levels of the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (PCSC) in five cycles of 21 days. 400 Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) with 37 days of age were used, distributed in a completely randomized design with five treatments and ten replicates of eight birds each. The treatments were: reference diet without PCSC (Control); reference diet with 0,5 kg/t of PCSC (PCSc0,5); reference diet with 1,0 kg/t of PCSC (PCSc1), reference diet with 1,5 kg/t of PCSC (PCSc1,5); reference diet with 2,0 kg/t of PCSC (PCSc2). The variables were analyzed for performance: feed intake, egg production, feed conversion per dozen and egg mass, egg weight, egg mass and viability, for intestinal morphology: villus height and width, width/height villus ratio and crypt depth and for quality of eggs: egg weight, Haugh unit, yolk index, percentage of egg components and shell thickness. The inclusion of PCSC in the quail diet increased (P<0,05) the height and width of the villus in all segments of the small intestine (duodenum, jejunum and ileum). At the level of 0,5 kg/t inclusion of PCSC was enough to obtain positive results in villus height, but the treatment PCSc1 presented results of average villus height higher (P<0,05). The inclusion of 1,0 kg/t of PCSC was enough to obtain a positive result in the width of the villi, did not differ significantly from the treatments PCSc1 and PCSc2. Was observed a decrease in width/height ratio of the intestinal villi, where the higher average was observed in the control treatment, which differed significantly (P<0,05) from all other treatments. In relation to crypt depth was observed the highest average in the control treatment, which differed significantly (P>0,05) from all other treatments. The inclusion of PCSC in Japanese quail ration significantly decreased feed intake, improved feed conversion ratio and significantly increased egg production. No statistical differences were observed for the other performance variables. The thickness and percentage of shell showed higher values in treatments PCSc1,5 and PCSc2. And the percentage of yolk had a higher value in the treatment PCSc1 and PCSc1,5, but the addition of 0,5 kg/t of PCSC was enough to significantly increase the percentage of yolk compared to control. No statistical differences were observed for the other variables of egg quality. The inclusion of 1,5 kg/t of cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae in the diet of Japanese quail (Coturnix coturnix japonica) for the production phase promoted improvement in the integrity of the intestinal epithelium, besides improving egg shell quality and the inclusion of 1,45 kg/t promoted greater egg production and improved feed conversion. Being necessary to carry out further assessments in order to consider the economic feasibility of its inclusion.

Sendo necess?ria a realiza??o de outras avalia??es com o objetivo de ponderar a viabilidade econ?mica de sua inclus?o.Submitted by Sandra Pereira (srpereira@ufrrj.br) on 2020-06-24T00:20:32Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2012 - Marina Jorge de Lemos.pdf: 1156780 bytes, checksum: 3e13cdf1e6fcd09b5267faef085bba99 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2020-06-24T00:20:32Z (GMT). description This work aimed to evaluate the performance, quality of eggs and intestinal morphology of Japanese quail fed diets containing five levels of the cell wall of Saccharomyces cerevisiae (PCSC) in five cycles of 21 days.
