Resumo: Coexistent species might have segregation. The main factor that determines the diversity of species in an environment is the way they share resource, either spatial or temporal niche. The morphological characteristics are correlated with the species? ecology, as well as feeding, foraging and other. Foraging is one of the goals in behavioral ecology. It?s very important to understand patterns of resource exploitation and community structure. This study aimed to analyze how five antbirds species share resource, Dysithamnus mentalis (Temminck, 1823), Thamnophilus palliatus (Lichtenstein, 1823), Thamnophilus ambiguus Swainson, 1825, Pyriglena leucoptera (Vieillot, 1818) e Drymophila ferruginea (Temminck, 1822). This study was conducted in Cacaria river watershed, Pira? ? RJ. The research was divided into two stages, spatial segregation study, with foraging habits, and morphometric segregation study, with biometrics. Data were ordered by two distinct PCAs, the first aimed to order five species under spatial segregation, and the second ordered only three of the five species studied under morphometric. The Kruskal-Wallis test compared the use of stratum. The Chi-Square compared microhabitat use and foraging tactics. Results indicated difference in foraging habits in all species, however shows a more competitive group: Dysithamnus mentalis, Thamnophilus ambiguus and Drymophila ferruginea. Morphometric analyzes indicated segregation between the three species analyzed: Dysithamnus mentalis, Thamnophilus ambiguus e Pyriglena leucoptera.

Submitted by Leticia Schettini (leticia@ufrrj.br) on 2022-04-14T14:54:03Z No. of bitstreams: 1 2012 - N?vea Maria Alchorne Ribeiro.pdf: 1902394 bytes, checksum: 26e25e3fb183be7002c4d1c2afef9366 (MD5)Made available in DSpace on 2022-04-14T14:54:03Z (GMT). description Coexistent species might have segregation.
