Resumo: The objective of this study was to evaluate the alteration in the solubility of heavy metals in soils contaminated by anthropic action, applying an iron oxide residue (CSN) that acted from the chemical containment, aiming to recover contaminated areas and representing a low cost alternative in the containment of heavy metals. An experiment was conducted in the Soils Chemistry Laboratory, in the Soils Department of UFRRJ. Preliminary tests were made, such as: curve of neutralization of the residue, to determine the pH to reach the optimum usage of the residue ; and the sorption isotherm of the URA residue, to study the adsorption potential of the residue. Later an experiment was installed, using Yellow Argisol contaminated by material from an industry of lead batteries recycling (FAE), and with sediments from the bottom of Sepetiba Bay contaminated by the residue of the Ing? industry. The second experiment was set with two soils, one a Yellow Latosol (Xanthic Udox) and the other a Planosol Haplico (Fragiudult). The soils were artificially contaminated with 2 dosages of Cd, Pb, and Zn. The treatments used were: blank, without contamination, 5, 10 and 15% of iron oxide with pH 6.0, with three replications for each treatment. The results obtained in the sorption isotherm allowed concluding that the iron oxide residue had a high sorption capacity, being for Compact disc Cd 2.7-1 g kg-1, Pb 46 g kg-1 and Zn 5.0 g kg-1. From the studied metals, lead presented greatest interaction with the URA residue. The application of the URA residue, with pH adjusted to 6.0, provided the formation of complexes with the metals, cadmium, lead and zinc. This may have reduced the biodisponibilidade of Cd, Pb, and Zn due to the association of these elements to the more stable chemical fractions.

Made available in DSpace on 2016-04-26T19:36:54Z (GMT).
