Sarna psor?ptica, demod?cica e pediculose de ruminantes (Capra hircus L. e Bos indicus L.) no semi-?rido da Para?ba: aspectos cl?nicos e ecol?gicos

Resumo: Prevalence, population structure and clinical signs of some ectoparasites were studied under natural conditions in goats of cross breeding from six counties in a semi-arid region of the state of Para?ba, Northeastern Brazil. The arthropods involved were Bovicola caprae (Ewing), psoroptes cuniculi (Delafond) and Demodex caprae (Railliet). The prevalence of B. caprae ranged from 40 to 100% in mallholders farms. Clinical otocariasis was seen in 15% of examined goats. In only one farm whereas subclinical otocariasis was diagnosed in 73% of examined goats from several mallholder farms. Goat demodicosis was also presented in only one farm with prevalence of 2,2%. Prevalence of B. caprae was higher (78,74%) in goats under one year of age in comporasion to adults (66,88%). When the sex was the sample unit, prevalence was higher in adults females than in adult males (P < 0,05). Subclinical otocariasis was also observed in adults goats from the semi-arid region and killed at an commercial abattoir. Prevalence was higher in males (84%) in comparasion with females (66%). The mean intensit, however, was higher in females (446 mites/animal) than in males (351 mites/animal) (P ? 0,01). Typical clinical signs associated with B. caprae, P. cuniculi and D. caprae were seen. During the survey mentioned above, an outbreak of demodicosis was diagnosed in xxi a Sindhi herd (dairy) keept in the semi-arid region. The outbreak was monitored from december/89 to january/92, a period extremely dry due to four year without raining, was seen the higher and lower prevalence were, respectively, from january to may, 1992 (27,14%) and june to december, 1990 (9,90%). Clinical sings were diagnosed in both sexes of calves and adults.

Os artropodes identificados foram bovicola caprae (Ewing), psoroptes cuniculi (Delafond) e Demodex caprae (Railliet). A pediculose caprina (B. caprae) teve como preval?ncia uma varia??o de 40 a 100% de positividade entre as propriedades. A otocar?ase cl?nica (P. cuniculi) teve como preval?ncia apenas 15% e foi somente encontrada em uma propriedade dentre as estudadas, enquanto a otocar?ase subcl?nica (P. cuniculi) foi de 73% e em rela??o a demodicose caprina (D. caprae) apenas 2,2% de positividade, tamb?m encontrada apenas em uma propriedade. A influ?ncia do parasitismo com rela??o a idade e sexos dos animais, observou-se que o B. caprae teve como preval?ncia nos animais jovens (78,74%), enquanto nos animais adultos (66,88%). Com rela??o aos sexos, nos animais jovens n?o houve diferen?a significativa (P > 0,05), o que n?o ocorreu com os animais adultos, sendo as f?meas mais parasitadas do que os machos (P < 0.05). A otocar?ase sub-cl?nica foi observada tamb?m nos animais adultos de ambos os sexos, abatidos no Matadouro P?blico de Patos, sendo os mesmos oriundos da mesma xix microrregi?o. A preval?ncia do parasitismo nos animais machos (84%) foi maior do que nos animais do sexo feminino (66%) e com rela??o a intensidade albergaram maior n?mero de ?caros P. cuniculi (446 ?caros/animal) do que os machos (351 ?caros/animal) (P ? m?dia de infesta??o, ?s f?meas 0,01%). Com rela??o aos aspectos cl?nicos, todos os animais parasitados tiveram les?es caracter?sticas das respectivas ectoparasitoses. No desenvolvimento do estudo, detectou-se um surto de demodicose bovina causada por D. bovis Stiles, em um rebanho leiteiro da ra?a Sindhi, da Universidade Federal da Para?ba - Campus VII, da mesma microrregi?o. A observa??o foi realizada desde dezembro-1989 at? janeiro-1992, compreendendo dois per?odos definidos do ano: per?odo de chuva (janeiro a maio), ressaltando que esse per?odo encontrava-se extremamente seco, devido ao prolongado per?odo de estiagem (quatro anos) e per?odo de seca (junho a dezembro). A mais alta e mais baixa preval?ncia foram observadas respectivamente, em janeiro a maio de 1992 (27,14%) e junho a dezembro de 1990 (9,90%). description Prevalence, population structure and clinical signs of some ectoparasites were studied under natural conditions in goats of cross breeding from six counties in a semi-arid region of the state of Para?ba, Northeastern Brazil. The arthropods involved were Bovicola caprae (Ewing), psoroptes cuniculi (Delafond) and Demodex caprae (Railliet). The prevalence of B. caprae ranged from 40 to 100% in mallholders farms. Clinical otocariasis was seen in 15% of examined goats. In only one farm whereas subclinical otocariasis was diagnosed in 73% of examined goats from several mallholder farms. Goat demodicosis was also presented in only one farm with prevalence of 2,2%. Prevalence of B. caprae was higher (78,74%) in goats under one year of age in comporasion to adults (66,88%). When the sex was the sample unit, prevalence was higher in adults females than in adult males (P < 0,05). Subclinical otocariasis was also observed in adults goats from the semi-arid region and killed at an commercial abattoir. Prevalence was higher in males (84%) in comparasion with females (66%). The mean intensit, however, was higher in females (446 mites/animal) than in males (351 mites/animal) (P ? 0,01). Typical clinical signs associated with B. caprae, P. cuniculi and D. caprae were seen. During the survey mentioned above, an outbreak of demodicosis was diagnosed in xxi a Sindhi herd (dairy) keept in the semi-arid region. The outbreak was monitored from december/89 to january/92, a period extremely dry due to four year without raining, was seen the higher and lower prevalence were, respectively, from january to may, 1992 (27,14%) and june to december, 1990 (9,90%). Clinical sings were diagnosed in both sexes of calves and adults.
