Based on the assumptions of autoethnography reviewed and applied by some researchers (VERSIANI, 2005; SANTOS, 2016; MANZONI-DE-ALMEIDA, 2021), I analyze a reading diary written by myself about the novel As doenças do Brasil (2021), by the Portuguese writer Valter Hugo Mãe. Despite not dealing with reading diaries but with diaries in general, Philippe Lejeune helps to reflect on the various specificities of this genre. As for the reading diary here put, it follows some guiding questions that contribute to organizing my feelings and thoughts about the novel read and about everything else that it aroused in me, from reflections to daydream, and, consequently, these same questions end up contributing for the analysis.
