Resumo: This article aims an intentional communicative analysis of Carolina de Jesus’s book Quarto de despejo (published in English as Child of the Dark: the diary of Carolina Maria de Jesus) demonstrating how narrative choices contribute to highlight the voice of Black women from Brazilian outlying ghettos. From speech acts which go beyond singular acts, the issues brought by Carolina represent the collective, which is the basis of the Brazilian social pyramid. The Family struggle to survive and the political disappointement are some of the issues raised and show na author who is interested not only in describing her own story, but also in giving a mute colletive a chance to express themselves. Speech acts.Neste artigo, faço uma análise da intenção comunicativa de Carolina de Jesus no livro “Quarto de despejo: o diário de uma favelada”, dimensionando de que forma as sequências narrativas podem evidenciar a voz da mulher negra de periferia. A partir dos atos de fala, para além de uma fala singular, as questões postas por Carolina representam todo um coletivo, que está na base da pirâmide social brasileira. A luta pela sobrevivência familiar e a desilusão com a classe política são alguns dos questionamentos feitos e mostram uma autoria coadunada não apenas ao fato narrado, mas a uma voz coletiva emudecida.
