Resumo: Assuming that the Republic was the result of a long process of erosion in the structures that supported the Monarchy, throughout the Second Reign, this research proposes to analyze, from a regional perspective, the existence of an intellectual elite. his performance in republican propaganda in Sergipe, through the Republican Club of Laranjeiras. The methodology used was the bibliographic reading and the analysis of documents and periodicals, based on the New Political History, especially around the question of intellectuals and politics.
