The Lazaretto of Praia do Francês, an important historical building from the 18th century, designated as an Archaeological Site Lazaretto by IPHAN (National Institute of Historic and Artistic Heritage), is located in the municipality of Marechal Deodoro, Alagoas. It served the purpose of isolating individuals afflicted by contagious diseases and played a strategic role in disinfecting ships that docked in the area. Currently in ruins, its walls endure the passage of time and neglect, undergoing continuous deterioration caused by climatic factors, including its proximity to the coastline and prevailing environmental conditions. In addition to the progressive loss of materials, the building faces vandalism and an increasing threat of encroachment due to real estate speculation. The aim of this study is to analyze the decay of the ruins of the former Lazaretto of Praia do Francês in Marechal Deodoro, Alagoas, considering its vulnerability to climatic factors and the lack of preservation efforts. To achieve this, architectural documentation is crucial as an effective tool for investigating the issues surrounding historic buildings. The documentation process will encompass a range of activities, starting with on-site building analysis through hand-drawn sketches, architectural surveys using software, photogrammetry based on terrestrial photos to feed a low-cost computational program reconstructing the 3D structure of the masonry, and finally, the damage map alongside damage identification records.
