Assuming that the use of photography as a teaching tool is fundamental and widely disseminated in Architecture and Urbanism degree, this monography aims to study the relationship that future architects and urban planners, studying at the Federal University of Sergipe have with architectural photography. For this, it is considered that a specific subject is not offered to the study of the theme in question, and analyzes are made of the photographs taken by these students on academic trips. The first chapter gives an overview of the history of photography, from the beginnings until present day, always looking to relate it to the architecture. Through the process, the main names and events of this evolution are highlighted. In the second chapter, formal elements of analysis of architectural photography are explained, with the help of photographs taken by two great Brazilian photographers, Cristiano Mascaro and Nelson Kon, and images by the author herself. In the third chapter, the disciplines focused on teaching in photography in architecture and urbanism colleges around Brazil are quantitatively analyzed. Also included, the academic trips in which the student's photos were taken, and interviews with the teachers responsible for such. Finally, the analyzes of the students' photographs are made, based on the elements presented in chapter two. It is expected that this work will provide a better comprehension of photography in the architectural context, and the understanding that its study is beneficial for the teaching of architecture and urbanism itself.
