This article aims to develop some reflections on archaeological sites, located in aquatic environments, classified by archaeological literature as depositories or abandonment sites. In this sense the methodologies that are applied will be highlighted, highlighting criteria used in its classification besides presenting some of the main factors responsible for the formation of the depository site both those of natural reason and those of anthropic reason. Another theme addressed will deal with the interpretation of the materials found in these sites and their potential in building an archaeological knowledge, showing their capacity for further studies, since they allude to their own nomenclature end up being abandoned by the researchers.
