Resumo: This research aims to discuss the data produced by the project of the Casco de Mocanguê I Archaeological Site, an underwater archaeological research developed in Guanabara Bay, in the city of Niterói-RJ, within the field of contract archaeology. Through the analysis of the political context in which the project was developed, we will discuss the case study from the perspective of maritime archeology with a critical bias, where we will present the main issues surrounding the process of building archaeological knowledge, and also analyzing the Brazilian Naval Revolts as an internal conflict that occurred in the first years of the Brazilian republic, promoted by oligarchic/military sectors that wanted to seize the current power, through a political coup through the implantation of State Terrorism. In the course of Brazilian republican politics, we have often seen these movements repeat themselves, sometimes with the establishment of authoritarian regimes. Almost always, the materiality related to these events is deliberately "erased". In the case of the Brazilian Naval Revolts, the possible identification of archaeological sites of shipwrecks brings up an extremely necessary and current archaeological and political theme, opening paths and possibilities for future research in similar contexts, inside and outside the contract archaeology. The survey of the wreck site of the vessel Madeira Steamship (Casco de Mocanguê I) was demanded of an environmental and patrimonial issue, as it was identified during the execution of a dredging project, carried out in the navigation channel near the Mocanguê island. Through geophysical surveys, direct investigation and historical research, the identity of the collapsed hull and the partial rescue of part of its structures were carried out, using the Appendix of the Unesco Convention for the Protection of the Underwater Cultural Heritage of 2001 as a reference. using different technologies in the archaeological record process, we generate a range of data on the context formed by the remains of the vessel, mitigating the problems caused by the conditions of the area and the dynamics of the research, creating means that facilitate the diffusion and popularization of the archaeological knowledge built on the submerged site, as well as creating ways to deepen the archaeological information produced even outside the scope of contract archaeology, a challenge started with the present thesis.

A través del análisis del contexto político en el que se desarrolló el proyecto, discutiremos el estudio de caso desde la perspectiva de la arqueología marítima con un sesgo crítico, donde presentaremos los principales problemas que rodean el proceso de construcción de conocimiento arqueológico y también analizaremos la Revuelta Armada como un conflicto interno que ocurrió en los primeros años de la república brasileña, promovido por sectores oligárquicos / militares que pretendían tomar el poder actual, a través de un golpe político a través de la implantación del terrorismo de Estado. En el curso de la política republicana brasileña, a menudo hemos visto estos movimientos repetirse, a veces con el establecimiento de regímenes autoritarios. Casi siempre, la materialidad relacionada con estos eventos se "borra" deliberadamente. En el caso de la Revuelta Armada, la posible identificación de sitios arqueológicos de naufragios plantea un tema arqueológico y político extremadamente necesario y actual, abriendo caminos y posibilidades para futuras investigaciones en contextos similares, dentro y fuera de las licencias arqueológicas. El estudio del lugar del naufragio del buque Vapor de Transporte Madeira (Casco de Mocanguê I) exigió un problema ambiental y patrimonial, como se identificó durante la ejecución de un proyecto de dragado, llevado a cabo en el canal de navegación cerca de la isla de Mocanguê. Mediante estudios geofísicos, investigación directa e investigación histórica, se llevó a cabo la identidad del casco colapsado y el rescate parcial de parte de sus estructuras, utilizando como referencia el Apéndice de la Convención de la Unesco para la Protección del Patrimonio Cultural Subacuático de 2001. Utilizando diferentes tecnologías en el proceso de registro arqueológico, generamos una variedad de datos sobre el contexto formado por los restos del buque, mitigando los problemas causados por las condiciones del área y la dinámica de la investigación, creando medios que facilitan la difusión y popularización del conocimiento arqueológico construido sobre el sitio sumergido, además de crear formas de profundizar la información arqueológica producida incluso fuera del alcance de las licencias ambientales, un desafío comenzó con esta tesis.A presente pesquisa tem como objetivo discutir os dados produzidos pelo projeto do Sítio Arqueológico Casco de Mocanguê I, pesquisa arqueológica subaquática desenvolvida na Baía de Guanabara, no município de Niterói-RJ, dentro do campo do Licenciamento Ambiental. Através da análise do contexto político em que o projeto foi desenvolvido, discutiremos o estudo de caso sob uma ótica da Arqueologia marítima de viés crítico, onde apresentaremos as principais problemáticas que circundaram o processo de construção do conhecimento arqueológico, e também analisando a Revolta da Armada enquanto um conflito interno ocorrido nos primeiros anos da república brasileira, promovido por setores oligárquicos/militares que pretendiam a tomada do poder vigente no momento, através de um golpe político por meio da implantação de um Terrorismo de Estado. No decorrer da política republicana brasileira, muitas vezes vimos esses movimentos se repetirem, algumas vezes com o estabelecimento de regimes autoritários. Quase sempre a materialidade relacionada a esses eventos é propositalmente “apagada”. No caso da Revolta da Armada, a possível identificação de sítios arqueológicos de naufrágios traz à tona uma temática arqueológica e política extremamente necessária e atual, abrindo caminhos e possibilidades para futuras pesquisas em contextos similares, dentro e fora do licenciamento arqueológico. A pesquisa do sítio de naufrágio da embarcação Vapor de Transporte Madeira (Casco de Mocanguê I) foi demandada de uma questão ambiental e patrimonial, visto ter sido identificada durante a execução de um empreendimento de dragagem, realizado no canal de navegação próximo à Ilha de Mocanguê. Através de levantamentos geofísicos, investigação direta e pesquisa histórica, realizou-se o reconhecimento da identidade do casco soçobrado e o resgate parcial de parte de suas estruturas, utilizando como referência o Anexo da Convenção da Unesco para Proteção do Patrimônio Cultural Subaquático de 2001.
