Resumo: It can be argued that one of the major concerns on the world stage is the massive amount of waste produced. It was observed from data collection and studies available in the literature that the State of Sergipe has great potential in the generation of the same. We must immediately look for ways to use and innovation from its use or application, for example, investment in biofuels and power generation. These alternatives are already being widely used and that tend to grow, since they provide interesting benefits in environmental and economic point of view, thus promoting sustainability.

Neste contexto, o objetivo deste trabalho é verificar o potencial de resíduos lignocelulósicos presentes ou disponíveis no estado de Sergipe através de coleta de dados e estudos disponíveis na literatura. Deste modo, foi observado pela pesquisa que o estado de Sergipe contém um elevado potencial na geração dos mesmos, devendo procurar meios de utilização e inovação de seu uso ou aplicação, como por exemplo, o investimento em biocombustíveis e na geração de energia.
