Resumo: The present work seeks to analyze the possibilities of the adoption of the manga in the teaching of History, using specifically the work Barefoot Gen for the performance of activities on the Second World War. From the historical context in which the manga is inserted, we seek to make a relationship between what is presented in the story and what really happened. The studies conducted by Sonia Luyten and other experimental research by several authors offer questions about the use of manga and comics as a pedagogical practice. The monograph contains a selection of methodological practices related to the theme, most used in Brazil's educational system, through a critical-analytical bias. In the part directed to the teaching practice, are presented proposals of pedagogical activities in the field of history and in an interdisciplinary way, which use the manga Gen Barefoot and its content in Basic Education. This work concludes by affirming the importance of creating new teaching methodologies and the advantages of using manga and comics in education for more efficient, playful, and dynamic learning.

A partir do contexto histórico em que o mangá está inserido, buscou-se fazer uma relação entre o que é apresentado na história e o que realmente aconteceu. Os estudos realizados por Sonia Luyten e outras pesquisas experimentais de diversos autores ofertam questões sobre o uso de mangás e da história em quadrinhos como prática pedagógica. A monografia contém uma seleção das práticas metodológicas, relacionadas ao tema, mais utilizadas no sistema educacional brasileiro, através de um viés crítico-analítico. Na parte direcionada à prática docente são disponibilizadas propostas de atividades pedagógicas no âmbito da História e de forma interdisciplinar, que utilizam do mangá Gen Pés Descalços e o seu conteúdo na Educação Básica.
