O uso de matrizes dérmicas no tratamento de recessões gengivais: uma revisão de literatura

Gingival recessions are the most common mucogingual aesthetic problems. For effective root coverage the techniques performed involve reconstructive procedures that are usually performed with connective tissue grafts (CTG). Currently, treatments with non-autogenous grafts, especially dermal matrices, have emerged as a new alternative, reducing postoperative morbidity and providing an increase in keratinized tissue. In order to verify the performance of the dermal matrices as a potential substitute for connective tissue graft, a literature review was performed using the SciELO and PubMed databases cataloging articles between the years 2010 to 2018. Both the dermal matrices of algenic as well as xenogenic origin have been shown to be effective in obtaining root coverage and increase of inserted gingiva, however, it has statically inferior indexes of recovers when compared to CTG. In this way, it is concluded that the dermal matrices are an effective alternative to be performed, but remain inferior to the connective tissue graft. However, its use does not require a second surgical site making the postoperative less painful and comfortable for the patient.
