Resumo: | The freshwater scarcity on the planet has made over the years, the man seek alternatives to reduce the use of water in the various activities of society: consumption, Domestic activities, industry, agriculture, among others. Thus water reuse (reuse) is presented as a sustainable practice that aims to mitigate the waste of this resource. Therefore, this article aims to present a diagnosis of the weaknesses and reuse practice capabilities in Eduardo Gomes neighborhood in São Cristóvão / Sergipe. Therefore, we made observations in loco to describe how to give the social and environmental relations in the vicinity of the DESO stabilization pond. The results showed that the stabilization pond has great importance for the treatment of wastewater coming from the Rosa Elze and Eduardo Gomes quarter, mainly due to the fact that this water is discharged to local waterways, thus the quality parameters water must be met, so as not to create potential sources of pollution. However, it was noticed that the resident community around the pond exerts unsustainable practices, which does not contribute to the maintenance of this alternative treatment. Thus, we see the need for interventionist measures through awareness and environmental education, whereas these actions will promote the conservation and local water management. |

Deste modo a reutilização da água (reuso) se apresenta como uma prática sustentável que visa mitigar o desperdício desse recurso. Portanto, o presente artigo tem como objetivo apresentar um diagnóstico das fragilidades e potencialidades da prática de reuso no bairro Eduardo Gomes em São Cristovão/ Sergipe. Para tanto foram feitas observações in loco para descrever como se dão as relações socioambientais no entorno da lagoa de estabilização da DESO. Os resultados obtidos demonstraram que a lagoa de estabilização apresenta grande importância para o tratamento das águas residuárias oriundas do bairro Rosa Elze e Eduardo Gomes, principalmente, pelo fato de que esta água é despejada em cursos d’água locais, assim, os parâmetros de qualidade hídrica devem ser atendidos, para que não se criem possíveis focos de poluição. No entanto, percebeu-se que a comunidade residente no entorno da lagoa exerce praticas insustentáveis, o que não contribui para a manutenção dessa alternativa de tratamento.
