The present work aims to identify possible contributions to understand the spaces of the child in the analysis of International Relations from the perspectives of Kariri-Xocós children and adults, from the village located in Porto Real do Colégio (AL). Since the creation of the international child protection regime, the categories “child” and “childhood” have become frequent concepts in international agendas, debates and discourses, often adopting Western and modern perspectives of a universal, decontextualized or essentialist character. However, there is a silence in International Relations about these groups, especially when linked to a critical perspective on the universality of these categories. Therefore, understanding the child as a political subject, an overview will be presented on the spaces and the form of children's participation in the community from the perspectives of Kariri-Xocó children and adults. Subsequently, we will understand how this group fits into the debates on Childhood Studies in Social Sciences and International Relations, as well as what are the conceptions of child and childhood present in the international child protection regime and its implications. Finally, we intend to identify possible alternatives to the western and modern perspective regarding the conceptions of child, childhood and the places destined for it, presenting traces to rethink how these concepts affect the spaces of children in the analysis of International Relations.
