At the beginning of the 21st century, with the advent of new sound technologies, the rhythm that won the heart of the interior of Bahia emerged in the city of Candeias, quickly conquered the state of Sergipe, and today is one of the main national genres. “Arrocha” highlights the capacity of the Brega genre to reinvent itself, giving “light” to the rhythm that rocks parties in the interior of Sergipe and is gaining more and more space in the Brazilian music scene, with romantic lyrics and engaging dance. “Mexeu Comigo” is a short documentary film that moves through the “interiors” of Sergipe, showing how arrocha is consumed and how it is part of local history, dialoguing directly with the people who helped the rhythm to spread and conquer the Brazil. This documentary is the opportunity to keep alive a historical, social and spatial memory of rhythm in the state of Sergipe. It is, therefore, the central object of this Course Completion Work project. Furthermore, this descriptive memorial intends to discuss the documentary's production process, but also present a brief discussion on the evolution of arrocha, breaking prejudices and gaining relevance in the music market.
