Resumo: Introduction: The Spinal Alignment and Range of Motion Measure (SAROMM) is a discriminative scale that evaluates postural deviations and muscle extensibility of regions such as the hip, shoulder and extremities, as the ankle. The SAROMM indicates whether the child with cerebral palsy (CP) has normal or abnormal alignment and range of motion. Objective: The purpose of this study was to translate and culturally adapt the SAROMM scale to Brazilian Portuguese. METHOD: The design of this study follows the type is methodological where instrument translation is performed, and it is in agreement with recommendations of the Consensus based Standards for Health Status Measurement Instruments (COSMIN), an internationally validated consensus that guides the translation and validation processes of measurements. The translation and adaptation process was composed of 3 PHASES: PHASE 1: 2 independent translations (T1 and T2) were generated by two health professionals (physiotherapists, bilinguals, with experience in the treatment of adults with neurological disfunction and children with CP, respectively). The versions were compared, passed through linguistic adaptations, generating a consensus version (T1 & 2). In Phase 2, the level of comprehension of the translated scale (T1 & 2) was analyzed with the reading of the form and the manual by 3 clinical physiotherapists, for cultural adaptation and score of the comprehension level. In Phase 3, was generated the final version T3. In Phase 4, the final version was then backtranslated into English by a certified translator and sent to the original author's approval. The Ethics and Research Committee of the Federal University of Sergipe-UFS, CAAE 43225914.7.0000.55.46, approved this research. Results: The comprehension levels with reading alone, levels 1 (incomprehensible), 2 (ambiguous) and 3 (need adjustments) were found to have frequencies of 0%. The frequency of levels 4 (easy to understand) and 5 (great comprehension) prevailed, with higher percentages of 33% and 67%, respectively, Demonstrating that the great majority of the items obtained the best understanding in the evaluation of the Committee of Experts . The committee suggested some spelling corrections at different times and the exchange of the word "fist" by "wrist." Conclusion: The SAROMM was successful translated and adapted to Brazilian Portuguese. The results of this study turn feasible that this instrument be used in clinical practice and in national clinical trials.
