Resumo: The world was affected by a highly contagious disease that came public in December 2019, called COVID-19, originated in China, belonging to the coronavirus family. The aim of this study was to evaluate the impact of this disease on scientific production. This work was an exploratory research, with search of scientific documents in the database Lens.org, based on the period from 1951 to March 7, 2020, using as a coronavirus keyword with boleyn OR for COVID-19. The outcomes showed a global scientific movement through the increase number of publications, effective participation of countries, research-supporting institutes, publishers, all together joining efforts in seek of solutions to the control of the pandemic. Thus, It is hoped that this study can support future research, speeding up scientific research in the fight against coronavirus, specifically COVID-19.

Por isso, o objetivo deste estudo é avaliar o impacto dessa doença na produção científica. Este trabalho trata-se de uma pesquisa exploratória, com busca de documentos científicos na base de dados Lens.org, considerando-se o período de 1951 até 7 de março de 2020 e utilizando-se como palavra-chave “coronavirus” com o boleano OR para COVID-19. Os resultados mostraram uma movimentação global científica através do crescimento do número de publicações, participação efetiva de países,institutos apoiadores de pesquisas, editoras, todos juntos somando esforços em busca de soluções ao controle da pandemia.
