Resumo: The present work aims to study the complexity of social organization of societies in prehistoric times, distinguishing how they classified, in addition to list of archaeological research conducted in Brazil in recent decades, having Amazon as a central theme. As a methodological procedure to Library Research that sought to unravel the theme discussed by authors referenced in trying to understand the studies in the Amazon pre-colonial societies was used. It is hoped that this work contribute to stimulating research on this subject, and contribute to a reflection on the studies of Amazonian society.

Como procedimento metodológico foi utilizado a Pesquisa Bibliográfica que buscou desvendar a temática abordada através de autores referendados na tentativa de compreender os estudos realizados na Amazônia das sociedades pré-coloniais.
