Increasingly, financial education has shown its relevance to society by enabling individuals to make good financial decisions. Concomitantly, small businesses operate in a limited and complex environment, depending solely and exclusively on the capacity of their owner, who assumes the role of the business manager, responsible for decision making. Therefore, this study aims to understand how the financial education of the manager influences the financial management of small businesses. The present research has a qualitative approach of a descriptive character, using the case study method, whose evidence was collected through semi-structured interviews with managers. The research analysis revealed that long-term management practices are influenced by the financial attitude, in relation to the use of financial planning. Short-term management practices and challenges are influenced by financial behavior, with regard to the use of credit, bill payment, monitoring and control of finances, financial reserve, absence or presence of financial problems. Finally, investment and financing decisions are influenced by financial knowledge about the risk and return ratio, diversification, interest, and interest on loan, and by the financial behavior of analyzing your financial capacity before making an acquisition. Demonstrating that the higher the level of financial education of the manager, the better the financial management of the small business will be and evidencing the importance of financial education for managers to ensure security, profitability and liquidity for small business finances.
