This article aims to support the construction of an archaeological context for historical artifacts rescued in the city of Laranjeiras-SE. In the last two decades, archeology in Sergipe has experienced a considerable increase in interventions in urban sites, driven by the creation of a bachelor's degree in archeology, as well as by the increase in research linked to contract archeology. Most emergency interventions resulted in a large amount of archaeological artifacts, associated with historical periods, whose analyzes did not advance to a level of understanding of their uses and impacts on local society. Such a problem led us to seek in the sources of the time, subsidies to build an archaeological context, understanding the impact of these objects on the daily lives of the townspeople of Laranjeiras. As a methodological instrument to achieve the objective outlined, we qualitatively analyze the information from bibliographic sources to understand how the daily life of the urban center of the city of Laranjeiras was configured, its uses and socio cultural dynamics. The results show that until the mid-nineteenth century, people's daily lives took place around sugar mills. The large farms functioned as social microcosms, with the village of Laranjeiras as a base for production and commercial experiences during the weekly fairs. It is in this context that historical material culture was assimilated, having distinct contours from the great centers of the Empire.
