Resumo: Given the high competitiveness of the market, together with the need for environmental preservation, sustainable businesses become a competitive differential for companies. Therefore, it is up to micro and small companies to develop innovations in the dimensions of sustainability. The objective of this theoretical essay is to analyze sustainable innovation as a competitive advantage from the perspective of micro and small companies. In the course of the article, two relevant contributions on the subject stand out. At the outset, there is an emerging need for entrepreneurs to be knowledgeable about sustainable business models. It was then found that small businesses have the potential for innovation and can therefore restore commendation in sustainable terms.

Sendo assim, cabe as micro e pequenas empresas desenvolverem inovações nas dimensões da sustentabilidade. O objetivo desse ensaio teórico é analisar a inovação sustentável como vantagem competitiva na perspectiva das micro e pequenas empresas. No decorrer do artigo, destacam-se duas contribuições relevantes, acerca da temática. No primeiro momento, observa-se a necessidade emergente dos empreendedores terem conhecimento sobre modelos de negócios sustentáveis.
