This study aims to investigate and analyze the illustration, the reproduction, and the contents of Captain America’s Comics the Comics after the terrorist attack that hit the World Trade Center, in New York, on September 11th, 2001. This event brought several social, economic and, above all, political changes to the United States as it stimulated internal and external political responses, such as the War on Terror. Nevertheless, the superhero characters of the time also suffered from the impact of this episode, bringing new connections between editions, new editors, and new comics to portray the context, policies, speeches and feelings of North American after the September 11th event. Thus, the research is based on the relation between speech, text and image and the socio-cultural context with the intention of investigating how changes in politics and context has significance in the representation of Comics, a symbolic component of entertainment in the United States and the world. For this purpose, this article will examine the case of Captain America’s Comics, investigating and studying Captain America’s scripts, speeches, and images.
