Resumo: After the Second Vatican Council, the Catholic Church took on new guidelines in the face of Christian initiation. Coming to understand that this should be modified in the face of the emerging reality, so the writings of patristics were used to base the renovation and in a special way the description of the catechumenate present in the work Apostolic Tradition. That said, this work intends to address historically baptism, as well as the founding document of the Christian catechumenate, through the approach of the New Cultural History
