This research aims to discuss the composition of the narrative according to Paul Ricoeur and to present a possibility of its crisis on Fernando Pessoa's The Book of Disquiet . At first, we will do an exposition of what constitutes the narrative composition genesis in Ricoeur (narrative as an art of weaving intrigues, synthesis of the heterogeneous). In this first moment we have as main reference the book Time and Narrative volume I. At second, we intend to do an exposition on Ricoeur analysis about the specificity of the romance genre, metamorphosis of the notion of intrigue, and the situation of possibility of his crises on the contemporary literature. In this second moment, we have as main reference the first part of the book Time and Narrative volume II. At last, we intend to point out some observations that probably indicate the uniqueness of The Book of Disquiet as a literary example which represents an expression directly involved in a crisis of the narrative and, therefore, an antagonism to the theoretical position of Paul Ricoeur . We will also demonstrate the uniqueness of the Book as a sort of literature perhaps unclassifiable, concerning its form and its genre. Thus, The Book of Disquiet appears in our research with the role of raising counterpoints and questions regarding the classic mode of narrative, which Ricoeur forged as a fundamental model to create works of fiction along the literary tradition.
