Indicadores de desempenho hospitalar relacionados ao infarto agudo do miocárdio em hospitais do Estado de Sergipe

Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is a Public Health problem with a high impact on morbidity and mortality throughout Brazil. The analysis of AMI-related hospital performance indicators allows understanding the care dynamics offered by health services. Therefore, the objective of this study was to evaluate hospital performance indicators related to AMI between high and low demand hospitals in the state of Sergipe between 2012 and 2021. This is an ecological, analytical and quantitative study, designed as a time series. Using data from the Department of Informatics of the Brazilian Unified Health System, the number of hospitalizations and deaths due to AMI were retrieved, including the hospitalization and hospital mortality rates, in addition to the average length of stay (in days) and expenditures in the last ten years. Data were statistically analyzed with a significance level (P) of 5%. Between 2012 and 2021, 5.787 hospitalizations and 1.108 deaths from AMI were reported in Sergipe. The in-hospital mortality rate was 19.1%. Classification as high or low demand was not a significant factor when assessing the temporal tendency of hospitalizations and deaths due to AMI. However, high-demand hospitals had a significantly higher in-hospital mortality rate due to AMI than the reference hospital (InCor; 17.6 versus 9.6; P-value <.001), with high magnitude (rrb = 0.991). At last, it was observed that high-demand hospitals had a significantly higher expenditure on hospitalizations, as well as a significantly longer average stay compared to those with low-demand (both P-values <0.05). It is possible to conclude that, in an overview, the classification between high and low demand was not a significant factor in the hospital performance indicators related to AMI in the last ten years in Sergipe
