Saúde e espiritualidade: concepções de graduandos do curso de Medicina de uma universidade pública federal

Resumo: Introduction - Spirituality is inserted in the current context of health, thus forming with it a binomial almost inseparable, being interconnected, in the sense of direct influences, one over the other. Spirituality can be understood as personal search, aiming to understand issues related to the end of life and the meaning of life, or that relate to the relationship with the sacred or transcendent, which may or may not lead to the development of religious practices or formations of communities religious. Objective - To identify the conceptions of the health, spirituality and care relationship of medical undergraduates at a public university in the city of Lagarto - Sergipe. Method - This is a descriptive, cross-sectional study with a qualitative approach, involving a sample of 200 medical students. Two questionnaires were used, the first one of sociodemographic factors and the second about conceptions of spirituality, religion and religion relating to health and the course, with objective and semi-open questions. Results - It was evidenced in the sample of 200 students that were included in the research, that the majority of the students was male (55%). 65.5% of the students claimed to have a religion, with predominance of the catholic religion (41%), followed by the protestant religion (14%) and thirdly the spiritism religion (2.5%). 36.5% stated that only once a year attend religious meetings, and 30% practice some individual religious activity more than once a week. The concept of spirituality understood by the students was that of "Religiosity" (40.5%). Of the total number of respondents, 33% of students state that spirituality influences "a lot" in their health and in 75% of opinions, in a positive way. Most students find the university approach to the topic important (74.5%) and should be included in the course curriculum (72.5%). Conclusion - The results of this work suggest that: The socio-demographic profile of this population of students showed a predominance of males (55%), with a high percentage of single (90.5%) and 94.5% without paid activity; medical students claim to have a good quality of life; a higher percentage of students considered the concept of spirituality more commonly understood by this sample was that of "religiosity"; medical students consider the spirituality factor as an important aspect of direct influence on health; medical students consider it important to approach the subject of spirituality in medical graduation.

Objetivo - Identificar as concepções da relação de saúde, espiritualidade e cuidado dos graduandos de medicina em uma universidade pública da cidade de Lagarto- Sergipe. Método - Trata-se de um estudo descritivo, transversal, com abordagem qualitativa, envolvendo uma amostra de 200 estudantes de medicina. Foram utilizados dois questionários, o primeiro de fatores sociodemográficos e o segundo sobre concepções de espiritualidade, religiosidade e religião relacionando à saúde e ao curso, com questões objetivas e semiabertas. Resultados - Evidenciou-se na amostra de 200 alunos que foram inclusos na pesquisa, que a maioria dos estudantes era do sexo masculino (55%). Do total de estudantes, 65,5% possuem uma religião, com predomínio da religião católica (41%), seguida da religião protestante (14%) e em terceiro lugar a religião espírita (2,5%). Comparecem a encontros religiosos apenas uma vez ao ano (36,5%), e 30% pratica alguma atividade religiosa individual em mais de uma vez na semana. O conceito de espiritualidade entendido pelos alunos foi o de “religiosidade” (40,5%). Do total de entrevistados, 33% dos estudantes declaram que a espiritualidade influencia “muito” na sua saúde e em 75% das opiniões, de maneira positiva. A maioria dos estudantes considera importante a abordagem do tema na universidade (74,5%) e que deve ser incluído no currículo do curso (72,5%).
