The Cardiorespiratory Arrest (CRA) is a topic of great relevance in the health area and fundamental in medical practice. The evaluation of the knowledge and learning opportunity of the medical students in the assistance of the CRA is of paramount importance to evaluate the current learning scenario of the future health professionals. The aim of this study was to evaluate students' perceptions regarding the knowledge and opportunities of cardiorespiratory arrest, comparing the non-internal students with the internal ones, graduating from the problem-based learning method. A cross - sectional and descriptive study was carried out in 2017, with 243 medical students enrolled at the Federal University of Sergipe - Professor Antônio Garcia Filho University Campus, with questionnaires that evaluated the following items: reading, practical classes, knowledge satisfactory and ability to act against a PCR and compared between the two groups. A large part of the students 93.42% (227/243) reported having had contact with the subject from reading. With regard to the comparison of the results on the knowledge and opportunities on PCR, a better self-assessment was found in all the items in the group of internship students. However, the majority of students 72.43% (175/243) judged their knowledge unsatisfactory. The present study shows satisfactory results of non-internal and internal medicine students of the active methodology regarding the perception of knowledge about CRA, with better evaluation in the group of the internship students. However, there is a clear need for more training courses during graduation to train more qualified physician.
