This research approach questions about Information Society, Big Data, Information Management and professional skills for librarians, seeking to explain how such professionals understand Big Data and how Information Management has changed with technologies’ interference. Among the objectives are: to characterize Information Management in the scope of Librarianship; to analyze how the Big Data phenomenon is understood in Librarianship; point out the necessary professional competencies for the librarian to work in the era of Big Data, to analyze how Information Management has changed with technologies’ interference with the final objective of identifying the skills and difficulties of librarians in the era of Big Data and analyze how Information Management has permeated through such a phenomenon. The study was developed with bibliographic and application of electronic questionnaires sent via the Google Forms platform were applied to librarians who work in the Library System of the Federal University of Sergipe (SIBIUFS). This research presents the discussion about the work of librarians and their personal perceptions about technological advances. In conclusion, these librarians attempt to stay up to date due to their professional practices.
