Cara e coroa : um roteiro para uso de moedas no ensino de história do Brasil

Resumo: The objective of this work is to provide a didactic guide for characterization, analysis and use of coins from the different national historical periods: Cologne, United Kingdom, Empire and Republic, which allows to guide the use of these primary sources in the teaching of history in the classroom. We emphasize that coins have been present in the life of man since the most remote times of civilization and are contemporary testimonies from different historical periods. The Brazilian monetary unit has undergone successive changes during its history. As a result of this phenomenon, a rich and diverse iconographic legacy resides in the Brazilian numeral collection. A profusion of legends, symbols, coat of arms and effigies of historical personalities, are signs that testify to the institutional values of the time in which they circulated. We believe that the use of this didactic tool will allow the teacher to characterize, analyze and interpret the multiple potentialities available in these sources, their thematic motivations and historical context. Assisting in the development of competences and skills of identification, comparison, contextualization, interpretation and analysis of this material source, stimulating the increase, in students, of criticality and autonomy of thought. The script used as a theoretical reference the notion of Historical Education, developed in Brazil from the studies of Jorn Rüsen, whose line of research seeks to clarify the process of forming historical awareness in students in the context of schooling. We also use the concept of numismatic interpretation, because the understanding and analysis of the iconography of coins applied to the process of reframing History Teaching will assist us in the development of a meaningful historical education.

Destacamos que as moedas estão presentes na vida do homem desde os tempos mais remotos da civilização e são testemunhos coevos de diferentes épocas históricas. A unidade monetária brasileira sofreu alterações sucessivas durante a sua história. Como resultado desse fenômeno, um rico e diversificado legado iconográfico reside na coleção numária brasileira. Uma profusão de legendas, símbolos, brasões e efigies de personalidades históricas, são sinais que testemunham os valores institucionais da época em que circularam. Acreditamos que o uso dessa ferramenta didática, permitirá ao professor, caracterizar, analisar e interpretar as múltiplas potencialidades disponíveis nessas fontes, suas motivações temáticas e contextualização histórica. Auxiliando no desenvolvimento das competências e habilidades de identificação, comparação, contextualização, interpretação e análise dessa fonte material, estimulando o incremento, nos alunos, da criticidade e autonomia de pensamento. O roteiro utilizou como referencial teórico a noção de Educação Histórica, desenvolvida no Brasil a partir dos estudos de Jorn Rüsen, cuja linha de pesquisa busca esclarecer o processo de formação da consciência histórica em estudantes no contexto de escolarização.
