Resumo: | Purpose of the study: the present study aims to characterize an oral nutritional therapy by adults and elderly hospitalized at the Hospital Universitário de Lagarto / SE. METHODS: This was a cross-sectional study carried out at the Hospital Universitário de Lagarto-SE (HUL) for 4 months, with recorded adults (> 18 years old up to 59 years old) and elderly (> 60 years) hospitalized in the yellow ward and medical clinic, and in using nutritional therapy through industrialized formulas. Patients admitted to the ICU (Intensive Care Unit) or the Red Wing were excluded. Patients and caregivers were clarified and invited to allow voluntary participation. All signed the Informed Consent Term (TCLE). Data were tabulated and expressed relative frequency and frequency. Results: Twenty-six patients were interviewed, 11 of whom were female and 15 were male, 18 were old and 8 were adults. As formulas were classified according to a RDC No. 21, dated May 13, 2015 in hypercaloric, normoprotein, hypoglycemic and hyperlipidic formulas. Protein modules and formulas with special nutrients have been found. Conclusion: The use of normoprotein, hypoglycemic and hyperlipidic formulas and immunonutrients for healing, immunomodulation and treatment of malnutrition are common in hospitalized patients. |

Método: Trata-se de um estudo transversal, realizado no Hospital Universitário de Lagarto-SE (HUL) durante 4 meses, sendo selecionados os pacientes adultos (>18 anos até 59 anos) e idosos (>60 anos), de ambos os sexos, internados na ala amarela e clínica médica, e em uso de terapia nutricional oral especializada por meio de fórmulas industrializadas. Foram excluídos pacientes internados na UTI (Unidade de Terapia Intensiva) ou na ala vermelha. Os pacientes e ou acompanhantes foram esclarecidos e convidados a autorizarem a participarem voluntariamente da pesquisa. Todos assinaram o Termo de Consentimento Livre e Esclarecido (TCLE). Os dados foram tabulados e expressos como frequência absoluta e frequência relativa. Resultados: Foram entrevistados 26 pacientes sendo 11 do gênero feminino e 15 do gênero masculino, 18 eram idosos e 8 eram adultos. As fórmulas foram classificadas de acordo com a RDC Nº. 21, de 13 de maio de 2015 em fórmulas hipercalóricas, normoproteicas, hipoglicÍdicas e hiperlipÍdicas. Também foram encontrados módulos de proteína e formulas com nutrientes especiais.
